Hi All,
This is a departure for me and is a hunting crossbow with a walnut stock and lots of bone inlay with engraved scrimshaw decoration.
The bow itself has been left black from the forge but scothbrite mopped to give a silver grey satin sheen. It has hemp safety cords and a dyed hemp lashing, with a leather weave over the binding. The bow draws 650lbs.
The stock is waxed and oiled walnut with bone plaques set top and bottom and a very distinctive 'proto-butt'. The bone has been engraved and ink filled to highlight the markings.
The bow is spanned by a cranequin, also with a walnut handle.
I hope you like it and if you have any questions, please ask.
Regards
Tod

Absolutely stunning, Leo. I'm assuming that since it is monogramed, this is a customer-commissioned piece? Lucky guy(or gal), whoever they are. .....McM

Holy crap, that's so freaking cool. That's strange, but to me, this crossbow looks almost organic, like if Dürer had met Giger. I could not explain why.

That crannequin is a masterpiece all by itself. I'm just thinking of all the labour that went into that. That metal luster is superb.

It totally does have an organic look to it. (And, yes, ...H.R. Giger's artwork is amazing. )
