Hallo my friends. I want to show you my last work – the sword dated on 13 century. The sword was find probably in west Europe. I was inspired with the historical find description. It is sword type XII in typologiy of Oakeshott. Like in oryginal find the pommel is made wiht bronze. The sword is comfortable in your hand. All elements are made by hands. The scabbard is made with ornaments form XIII century. Under the skin in scabbard you will find wood and wool to protect the blade better. All your questions please wirite me on prive.
The dementions of the sword:
Full functional, made with high quality steel 51CrV4,
Hardened 54HRC,
Total lenght: 99,2cm,
Blade lenght: 83,3cm,
Blade width at the base: 5cm,
Balance: 12,5cm,
Grip lenght: 9,8cm
Weight 1240g
Edge is sharp

Beautiful combination, especially the scabbard. Good price too, not counting customs duties & shipping charges to the USA. If I had that much left after Christmas I might be tempted to buy it.

Thank you for your opinion. The shipping to USA will cost 85USD so if you will be interesting in the sword after Christmas please let me knew :-).

Your work keeps getting better. The cross you chose is more typical of an XI, but it makes for an interesting looking combination.

Thank you very much for your nice opinion about my work. You are right - that type of cross was often used in sword type XI. When I was making that sword I based on historicaL source. There was the crossguard type 1. in that sword. So I made it like that - like it was in historical find :-)

Assuming Oakeshott listed the cross type correctly, there are subtle variations within type 1. Earlier spikehilt types often had an elongated canoe shape with acute tips like this, whereas later ones often were straight toward the ends with square tips and a central bulge to accommodate the blade. And overall, this group of 13th C swords tended to have type 2 crosses. It's hard to tell from a drawing.
These are generalizations. There are exceptions to every rule that leave room for creative interpretation.
