Hello! I recently bought a hauberk but it hasnt any cuts in the skirt so it reduces my legs mobility a lot. My kit is from early middle ages so i thought in side cuts but i dont know if front/rear cuts are better in mobility terms. Which do you recommend?
Thanks!

You could do both.

The biggest issue is that the body of most of the Indian-made mail is a tube, with no expansions over the hips. If you look at miniatures and effigies, you might notice that the slit tends to be rather small, and doesn't run to the groin as many reenactors hauberks do. To maintain mobility and minimize or eliminate the slit, the mail must be expanded over the hips.

So it sorta is pushed upwards on horseback? Because I know the Warriors in the bayed tapestry had crotch high slits , it is not ahistorical. I could seen that would be detrimental in foot combat because you have less mail to potentiall save from sower to the crotch or inner thigh.

The Bayeux Tapestry is pretty crude. We can't infer those kinds of details from it
