Well, this is the product of many years. As many of my friends on the forum know, I have been writing screenplays with my first option being Song of Roland. Yes, inspired by the medieval Chanson de Roland. I recently teamed up with my oft writing partner to rewrite the award winning script as a novel, with cover art by Jordan Raskin. Jordan is based out of LA and has done a fantastic job of creating the look and feel for the story through the cover.

I have been fascinated by the Byzantine Empire since I was in graduate school and you'll find intersections between the Franks and their imperial colleagues woven throughout the book as well.

Thought I'd share, in case anyone is interested.

Enclosed is the amazon link to the book. You can also find it in hard and soft cover. Sorry had to trim the cover to fit uploading requirements, so there is a bit more to the cover.

It sounds very interesting, but, just now, the e-book link for Amazon comes up as a dead link, and looking up the book on Amazon by title shows only paperback and hardcover buying options.

Am looking into this with Amazon and the publisher. So sorry. See what they can do to get it back up online. You can also find it at google play, iTunes and format specific at iUniverse.com. I'll post here when they've got it back up.

It looks fascinating. I'd love to read it (maybe not for a review, because I've got lots on my plate right now). From one author to another, I wish you great success!!!

Here is the updated link to the Kindle book! Thanks for your patience. Took a while for the publisher and Amazon to come to a solution.

Thanks for all the kind encouragement from members of the Forum! I wanted to share with you the most recent review of The Silver Horn Echoes.

"The Reader Falls in Love with the Compelling Characters..."

The Silver Horn Echoes: A Song of Roland by Michael Eging and Steve Arnold is a book for those who are into well-crafted and tightly plotted historical novels. Set against a turbulent period in the Dark Ages, readers follow compelling and memorable characters in a world where intrigue and stabbings-in-the-back are frequent. Roland is heir to the Breton March, but while the Frankish kingdom is preparing for an impending war, he is given the most unlikely of tasks — to serve as a guard. When he learns about a new threat to the kingdom, he must do everything in his power to save his people. But this isn’t an easy task, as he is faced with ruthless enemies within the kingdom itself, and he must unveil the plots of a murderer who could be setting himself up for the most powerful position in the entire kingdom. Does Roland have what it takes to protect the kingdom, founded by Charlemagne, from being torn apart?

I have always been fascinated by the Dark Ages, by its rule of power, and by the intrigue that is witnessed in high places. This book explores this age in vivid detail and with forensic clarity, and the reader falls in love with the compelling characters without knowing why. The writing is beautiful and it features linguistic elements that reflect the setting. The Silver Horn Echoes: A Song of Roland is a work of great imagination, nourished by history, a story with a powerful conflict, laced with intense action and twists that are as surprising as they are delightful. Michael Eging and Steve Arnold bring readers great entertainment, taking them on a whirlwind journey back to the Dark Ages, and putting them alongside some of the most memorable historical characters.

This is a terrific review by a member of the forum, Phil D. Thanks for the terrific shout out, Phil.

Quote:
For many years the Song of Roland has been one of my favorite classic stories of knightly honor and courage. The Silver Horn Echoes has taken this tale to a new level and expanded my love for this period in history. Fantastically written this book takes your imagination on a historic trip into the brutal dark ages and the brave warriors that thrived therein. To me it was not only reminiscent of Arthur and his knights but of the sagas written by Poul Anderson. It is a book that Mallory would have approved of... GREAT JOB, Mr. Eging . I applaud your creative skills at storytelling and look forward to not only reading more of your work but someday seeing it as a tv mini series !!

Thanks for the support, forumites! If you haven't gotten it yet, hope you get a chance to grab a copy!

A Journey Well Worth Taking
"Michael Eging and Steve Arnold have done for Roland what Jack Whyte did for the Arthurian mythos. They have brought the story into the real world and turned it into flesh and blood. Whether you have read La Chanson de Roland or will be first introduced to it by this book, I highly recommend reading it." San Francisco Book Review
