I wish to share with photos of recently finished early XV c. armour set in north Italian style with parts covered in 24 karat gold.

Helmet based on Churburg CH16, made of high quality mild steel and quenched to 30 HRC. Equipped with crest for feathers. It have hand sewn lining and riveted mail aventail.

Arms, leg harness and breastplate with fauld made of medium carbon steel and heat hardened and tempered up to 42 HRC (despite full greaves and sabatons). Cuirass based on depict from Pistoia silver altar. Equipped with lance rest and V neck guard. Spaulders in north Italian style to be wear over short mail sleeves. Poleyns and couters have characteristic horizontal ridge.

I hope that you are given the opportunity to make a kastenbrust breastplate some day, as I would love to see a reproduction made with your level of mastery. Jon I would very like to make a kastenbrust breastplate or whole cuirass and even better whole armour in that style, that would be very interesting experience. Kastenbrust armour were also very popular in late medieval Poland.

I wish to share with some new armour pieces.

Refreshed version of early mittens gauntlets for late XIV/begin of XV c. Made from medium carbon steel and heat hardened and tempered up to 42 HRC.





New approach to composite arm and leg harness for second half of XIV c. All steel elements made from medium carbon steel and heat hardened and tempered up to 42 HRC. Leather is 3 mm thick and dyed to oxblood color.











Arm and leg harness from early XV c. armour set for jousting purpose, part I. Arm harness consist of vambraces with integral spaulders in English armour style, hourglass gauntlets and manifer/gardebras. Manfier hot forged from 2 mm steel for best protection. Full leg harness which have poleyns with characteristic addtional horizontal ridge. Equipped with hand made steel buckles. All made from medium carbon steel, heat hardened and tempered up to 42 HRC.

Second part of early XV c. jousting armour set: cuirass and stechhelm.

Stechhelm made of high quality mild steel. Front and top part is from 3 mm thick steel, roll is 2,2 cm thick on front and 1,8 cm at sides. Back part is from 2,5 mm steel. It is heat hardened and tempered up to 30 HRC. Wieght 8 kg.

Breastplate is made of 3 mm high quality mild steel, hardened up to 30 HRC. Rest of the element are made of medium carbon steel: front lames are 2 mm thick, backplate and lames in the back are 1,5 mm thick. Heat hardened and tempered to 42 HRC. Lance rest is based on orignal from Churburg CH18 set and can be locked in two position. Curiass wieght 13,25 kg.

Equipped with handmade steel buckles.















Visored bascinet based on helmet from Musée de Cluny in Paris. Made of high quality mild steel 2 mm thick and quenched to 34 HRC.

Height: 29,4 cm
Ear to ear distance: 19,5 cm
Front to back distance: 35 cm

I wish to share with you some recent work.

Visored bascinet “hundsgugel” based on helmet A12 from Kunsthistorisches Museum in Wien. Made of high quality mild steel 2 mm thick and quenched to 34 HRC.

Weight: 4,4 kg (XL skull size)
Height: 29,5 cm
Ear to ear distance: 20 cm
Front to back distance: 36,5 cm

Interesting fact is, that A12 helmet from Wien have two very similar brothers. One from Museo Luigi Marzoli in Brescia and second from Wawel castle armoury in Krakow.











Arm harness consist of gauntlets, braces and spaulders for begin of XV c. Spaulders inspired by depict of knights from Altarpiece of St. George of Valencian provenance for first quarter of XV c., currently in Victoria and Albert Museum in London. I wish to share with you with some new armour pieces before winter holidays:

Early XV c. visored bascinet “hundsgugel” with bevor plate. Visor based on original example from Polish Army Museum in Warsaw. Helmet equipped with bevor and visor lock. Made of high quality mild steel.

Weight: 7,25 kg with lining and avential
Skull thickness: 2,5 mm
Visor thickness: from 2,8 mm (on beak peak) to 1,6 mm (on sides)
Bevor plate: 2 mm









Early XVc. English style cuirass with separate skirt in downward lapping lames construction. Backplate hinged at sides to breastplate - “reredos” construction. Made of medium carbon steel, heat hardened and tempered up to 42 HRC. All buckles handmade from steel plate, very strong and durable. Weight 11 kg (XL size).
