Hi All,

This bauernwehr is based on pieces from around 1500 and has the very distinctive hooked pommel that many of these knives had. Although these knives are often associated with farmers and householders and so on, due to the single edged nature of the pieces, this one is of a medium status and so I would think that it is more geared to fashionable wear or hunting.

This two piece set has steel furniture on both the by knife and the main knife and the main knife also sports a nagel. The grip scales are jigged and dyed bone.

The sheath is made from two layers of veg tan leather with a steel chape and has stamped and incised decoration front and back and is suspended with a thong.

I hope you like it.

Main knife
Blade length 10"/25cm
Grip length (between nagel and hook) 3.5"/9cm
Overall length 14"/36cm
Blade thickness at hilt 5mm

Byknife
Blade length 4.5"/11cm
Grip length 2.75"/7cm
Overall length 7.75"/19cm

Like it? Love it!

Was this a commissioned piece, or your own design?

And dare one ask the related question of whether it was made for a customer, or is an in-stock piece?

Thanks Mark.

It is an 'in Stock' piece, just not made it up onto the page yet, so it is available.

I will PM with a price.

Tod,
that is a great set. I love the shape of the pommel on the large one.
