before..

after...

new addition to hand guard is the copper diamond. Added metal accents to scabbard. Scabbard originally had just a piece of leather wrapped around the tip, which left the blade tip exposed and may have led to damage to the tip. Now the scabbard is encased in metal and so the tip is no longer exposed.

Opinions?

Very nice work and good to see that the handheld dremel behaved itself and didn't go skipping, sliding and gouging etc...

I was very sceptical about the whole thing when you first showed us your modifications but you obviously have the skills to pull it off technically and improve the look of the sword.

Also very nice work improving the scabbard.

Hi Jean,

thanks for the compliments!

May I ask you what you mean by "when you first showed your modifications". Which were the first modifications that I showed? I'm just wondering if you meant that my first modifications looked shoddy.

thanks,
Alex.

No not shody, but if I remember the first thread on this subject, my first reaction was to the first pictures that didn't show clearly how well executed the engraving was done.

Just an initial reaction to using a dremel on a nice sword and what "could" have gone wrong.

Also I think, the following pictures that you sent showed the results more clearly and looked good and I think I commented positively at the time. (You made an already nice looking sword look much more interesting, I'm really enjoying looking at the photos.)

O.K. Do something like this once, and it turns out good could be luck. The fact that you could add the copper diamond proves that the good results are skill. (And again the scabbard improvements look real good)

Bottom line: Nothing negative intended in my previous post and I am sorry if it gave you that impression.
(Just a question of reading something in between the lines that wasn't intended as sometimes happens when people read stuff on forums, or the person writing doesn't notice that what he wrote could be understood in more than one way .....LOL.)
