Hi there, I am trying to contruct my own authentic coat of plates using parts i have collected. But I found a odd effigy of John Leverick 1350 in Ash, St Nicholas church.
But his plates for the coat of plates seem to be on top of the material its connected to with only a laced jupon over the top.
My question is has anyone else seen coat of plates that has plates on the outside rather than the inside of the leather/textile coat??

I haven't seen such coat of plates yet.

There are a few that look like big plates on the outside. Take a look at the mounted cavalry fight scene from the Holkham Bible and they have one.
Super rare compared to the other types with them on the inside.
