I'm about to finish up and make available through my email list this Norse style fighter. Punched and drifted 5160 head with a 25" hop hornbeam haft with true grain. The head weighs 1# 9 oz and is 6" from poll to edge. 7" cutting edge. I think this might be my favorite axe that I've forged.
I'm in the process of making some changes to my overall business plan and am working on some 'standard offerings' in addition to my commission/historical/artistic work. Axes like these will be a part of that plan. Stay tuned for updates and changes to my Big Rock Forge website.
Awesome! I like the way you mounted it, what I think of as tomahawk-style versus a wedge driven in the end. Seems more sure. Any idea on historical methods that were preferred? I expect that variability would be the rule.....
