Hello to everyone,
I am new to the forum and this is my first post!
Shortly, the build will commence of a Cinquedea I have commissioned. Can anyone let me know how the original medieval examples were constructed, were they of full tang or frame handle construction does anyone know?
This is a great forum and I look forward to expanding my knowledge of medieval weaponry!
Regards,
Mark.

Mark,
Welcome the the forum!
Here's a good thread to begin on:
http://myArmoury.com/talk/viewtopic.php?t=214...=cinquedea
I think there's a lot about this particular repro that will teach you a lot about typical cinquedea construction. A few details are more specific to this one example being reproduced tho', so do read the text (sometimes hard to get past the pretty pictures on this website, for me anyway).
Best,
Eric

Hi Eric,
Many thanks indeed for the link, it contains answers to all the questions I had in mind about my impending Cinquedea build!
Great pics too and as I had anticipated the repro is full tang as I guess are the originals.
I will of course post pics here of mine when completed!
ATB,
Mark.

Mark, congratulations on a very impressive cinquedea.
You can easily give up your freedom. You have to fight hard to get it back!
