Hello All,

I have an opportunity to purchase a Spear collection but I don't know anything about spears. I have bought items from this person so I am interested in this collection. He sent me two photos. I have attached them to this post. Any info would be helpful as he wants me to make the initial offer. I can contact him if more info is needed.

I think that most old spears available today have african or SE asian origin. My opinion is that (bamboo shafts, some bearded pieces) these are asian.

Most of these are from the Philippines. Maybe all of them, but some might be from continental SE Asia, or Indonesia.

If you search for "Bontoc spear" and "Moro spear", you'll find plenty of similar examples. From which you might also get some idea of typical market value.

Henrik and Timo,

Thank you for the help. I can now do some focused research with the terms you mentioned.

Best,
Tom
