Made this today. A fantasy firangi. A tulwar hilt, married to what is best described as a straight spear-point katana blade, sanmei, with pattern-welded sides, modern Chinese replica which had very poor quality mountings. I thought about mounting this as a mortuary style sword, or possibly with a 19th European cavalry sword hilt. But since I have lots of tulwar hilts, relatively speaking, I thought that might be nice.
The original plan was to use the original resin, but it wouldn't soften enough to fit the blade. Heating did soften it enough to remove it (in chunks and powder). Filled the hilt with epoxy putty, and fitted the blade. Later, I will drill and pin through the guard, which will help strengthen the hilt as well - there is a crack, and it won't hurt to hold the sides together.
1025g, and PoB at 6".

Quite neat looking! It looks like it'd be a brutal cutter too
Ha, this is just further reinforcing my need for a tulwar.... amongst the other million things draining my wallet

Tulwar hilt + sanmei blade = Firangi
What a unique combination.
