Here is my latest scabbard project. The wood slats are planed down to a pretty thin cross section using an electric planer and then glued together. Its wool lined, and the leather stitched and glued.
The belts are darkened slightly from the natural tan color that I received them using some oil. The integration of the belts is something of my own design, at least the back part as I did not know how to connect things together when the belts are in the backward Z configuration as opposed to the X, so I just sort of winged it but I like the way it turned out. The belts are all quite tight, very tight actually. The throat stitching could have been better in hindsight, but I think it still turned out pretty good. The buckle is modern but can easily be replaced with something more period if and when I get something. The chape is from an HT Viking scabbard.

Nice work with the lacing!
Your scabbard complements the sword really well.
Thank you. As mentioned I basically "winged it".The church is near but the roads are icy. The tavern is far but I will walk carefully. - Russian Proverb
