The review of Albion's beautiful Viceroy lists a sword in the RA in Leeds as being a smaller, single handed version of the blade (from an inspirational standpoint). Does anyone have a picture of this sword, or do they know the museum catalogue number for it?

There are currently no photos of the original Viceroy sword, I'm afraid.

One of the swords that served as inspiration is a single handed sword from the Castillion find. It is published in Oakeshott´s "Records" as XXa.2 on page 213.
I have made a replica of that sword based on personal documentation. The VIceroy is a very different sword from a functional and handling stand point. The inspiration is mostly aesthetic, even if the proportions and measurements of the blade of the Castillion sword were used in developing the blade of the Viceroy.

Ah! Yes, I followed that thread intently. Absolutely lovely sword: the lines, the execution of the piece, the color of the grip…wonderful. Thank you for chiming in Peter, that is most helpful.
Out of curiosity, did you try to make a blade that felt good but looked similar to the XXa.2, or did you incorporate other more specific features from type XVIIIs, XXs, or XXIIs?
