i recently purchased an english warbow and while i love the way it shoots the string slap punches right trough my arm guard and I've been looking for a replacement are there any that someone here would recommend and/or are historically accurate.

You could also try a simple horn bracer like this http://www.longbowandarrow.co.uk/horn-bracer--arm-guard-100-p.asp

It looks primitive but works a treat, I am lazy and just slip the horn plate under a leather bracer but ideally it could do to be sewn to it.

Richard Head also very good to deal with.

One day should get one from Tod.

I highly recommend the two-volume set of Weapons of Warre (arms and armour from the Mary Rose, ca. 1540). In addition to the extreme detail on the bows, bills, daggers, swords and guns, there's a surprising amount about the wrist guards. Details of construction, materials, form and decoration. Try to get the set on interlibrary loan.

Here are some of the drawings of those guards. I made one of the types with bifurcated straps for my son. Easy project.

Note that on some of these there are two holes on the side of the guard opposite the attachment point of the strap or on the ends of the opposing strap. Those holes held small rivets that secured a buckle plate.
