November News from Arms & Armor
Arms & Armor News for November includes some upcoming things and a Highlight Item. We also have a couple new swords on the Muster Page

How much flex do these swords have? More thrust or cut oriented- or just a nice combination of the two?

Hi Jeremy
They probably flex about two inches or so with a firm push. They are definitely going to do well in the thrust but with their width they cut quite effectively. I would say they are a good combination of the two.

These are beautiful...please make more!
These would probably make excellent cutting swords too. A lot of people ask for reasonably priced cutting swords. The Albion Crecy is great, but the handle is too short. These look perfect! (but make them cheaper!!)

Glad you like the look of them. They do cut nicely, we took them to some targets and they did quite well.
As for a discussion of cost to price ratio in the modern ecnonmy for well made swords, I am happy to dicuss, but we should probably start a new thread as I suspect it would be busy. :-)

Hey Craig,
I suspect that Micheal did not mean these particular swords should be priced at a lower point (they are already a steal at this price). Rather, that something similar but with a more rudimentary finish (and therefore less expensive than your normal products) would be good for people who want to do cutting practice.
I like these blades - they look beefier than the XV you made last year (the one I bought). I suppose these ones are getting into XVIII territory, but I was thinking of something close to this combined with a single hand grip inspired by early XVs...remember my thread on that topic? We'll talk in the new year if I manage to save up some dough.

Also, one of our NYHFA guys bought one, and I'm trying to get another one to buy the remaining sword. These are way too nice to allow to go to just anyone.

Victor: I purchased the first one and it's a very elegant single edged blade, very comfortable in the hand: Hard to describe it but it just feel " RIGHT ".
Even if the blade is fairly narrow it takes a razor edge, if one wants it that sharp, because of the triangular cross section, giving it some decent cutting ability in a draw cut, although it doesn't have the mass forward for heavy cleaving type cuts, so it's not a chopper.
The blade is stout and thick enough that it is a useful in the thrust as a rondel dagger, and could easily do anything a rondel could do as many rondels have similar blade cross sections and profiles.
Anyway, hope you like yours as much as I like mine.
You can easily give up your freedom. You have to fight hard to get it back!

Barring unforeseen circumstances, a friend and I are planning on coming over for the Sword Saturday. Making it a little bit of a road trip from Eau Claire, WI to Minneapolis. As a new guy just starting to become interested in the subject, I think this would be a perfect event to see the swords in person and not just pictures online.

Totally enjoyed the Sword Saturday! It was great to meet and talk with the guys and handle some great weapons.
The old originals were awesome to see and handle. I particularly loved the Basket-hilt you had there, it felt almost perfect to me.
