I've never been a big fan of much that RitterSteel has to offer....but this would look good with my brass hilted Scottish Basket-hilted Claymore. Does anyone have one, and what are your opinions if you do? I can already see that it's heavy. Way heavy for a dirk. Just wonderin'.............Gotta keep my boys at KOA busy, and keep my bank account dwindled down. ...Thanks..........McM

I don't have one. It appears to be based on this original, published in Culloden: The Swords and the Sorrows.
The Rittersteel version is off in its proportion and details.
It's not too expensive, but I think it also fails to capture the beauty of the original (I really like the original).
It does look better than some Rittersteel stuff I've seen (and owned 15 years ago).

Thanks for the response, Chad. I don't really think RS was trying to copy that particular original dirk. I have, however, seen an original in a museum photo that it matches almost exactly. Maybe the originals were by the same maker. I kinda like the looks of the RS, but I sure would like to hear from someone who owns one. Thanks for the nice photos too!........McM
