I'm having trouble finding a source of ash poles to mount a spear head on. Where do you folks from the US purchase yours?

Arms & Armor has 7ft shaft on their website.
the more skill a man has with his weapon the more gentle and courteous should he behave, for in truth this is rightly the honour of a brave Gentleman, and so much more is he to be esteemed: he must not be a bragger, or lier, and without truth in his word, because there is nothing more to be required of a man than to know himself" - Vincentio Saviolo

I've gotten 1-inch diameter by 6-foot brush handles from Torrington Brushworks, which can give you a spear over 7 feet long depending on the head and buttspike (if any). Not specifically ash, but I've gotten several nice straight ones.

For longer stuff, Peavey Manufacturing will apparently make whatever kind of dowel you like, even tapered. I haven't tried them so far.

I was going to suggest Peavey as well. I haven't gotten anything from them yet, but the pruning poles are octagonal and up to 192" long.
Kult of Athena also carries ash poles.

I bought several octogonal ash shafts from Sherrill Tree. (1.25" width, 8 ft length) A tree tool supply company. The poles are around $25. Shipping was $14. But I ordered two poles, so it was about $65 for both including shipping.
