Hello, I am wondering if anyone here has first hand experience with this helmet and could tell me its strong and weak points. I don't have a ton of money so I can't really get anything beyond the 200$ price range for now. If this helmet is bad, could you perhaps suggest some alternatives?
I plan to use the helmet for fighting with stage steel swords.
Thank you in advance

No first hand experience but its hard to tell from the pic. Is the visor in its final position, i.e. fully down? If so the vision might be a bit restricted as those sights point up a bit too much for my liking. Not everyone fights in a hunched position as some makers seem to think.
Given that $200.00 is not a great deal you'll be hard pressed to find perfection but my gut feeling is you can probably do a bit better than that.

Quote from another topic about GDFB armor:

It's part of a much larger review of many GDFB items. Perhaps Reece could elaborate on that particular item for you.
edit: spelling

Part of the problem may lie in the fact that the bascinet itself is the same basic piece that they slap the houndskull visor on as well. These are not custom fitted nor artistically pleasing pieces. They are massed produced and shipped over in container ships.
That being said, it would make a great low-budget project piece for someone with tools and time but not a lot of money!
