I have no interest in these, they are complete fantasy swords "or so I think" and do not look ergonomic or even properly balanced at all but they start at 2295 and go to 14,000 dollars
Anyone here ever head of this company called Angel sword? What in the world could make these that ridiculously expensive? Maybe the price actually is justified but I am just wondering why.

Anyone have any insight on this?

Some of the more expensive swords apparently have precious gems mounted on them.....
Quote: | Handle: Carved Purpleheart and Rosewood
Guard: polished Brass with Garnets and Star Sapphires in silver setting
Pommel:Polished Brass with Stara Sapphires in silver setting |
From their most expensive sword. Kind of a shame too, such nice gems are set on the cruddiest looking brass hilt....
They also claim to manually forge all the steel themselves and thus create modern "Techno Wootz Damascus". I didn't bother to research their claims, but it seems they have a patent on the method for producing it. There's also a lifetime guarantee for worksmanship, so if it ever breaks it'll be replaced for free.
I think most of the cost is their method of production and the materials they use (like gems and precious stones), not research or historical accuracy.
They don't look fancy enough to truly be wall hangers, but at the same time I doubt their understanding of sword handling characteristics. I don't know, maybe they're really awesome for some unknown reason, it's just not apparent to me.

Angle sword is an old topic among sword collectors. I have handled their pieces and for all the nice steel they use I do not like them. They do not in my opinion rate the 2500 price tag let alone the 14000. For what my opinion is worth, though I have a few swords on the wall
The owner claims to be a martial artist and master smith, odd I have never heard his name mentioned around the people I hang out with

Just so our fair moderators and admins don't have a heart attack here's a past discussion on the topic:
http://www.myArmoury.com/talk/viewtopic.6757.html
I think that's all that needs to be said about it. There's also a berth of other forum discussion that can be found on the net on various other sword forums.

There is so much good info in the thread linked above that we don't need a new one. Please go to that thread to discuss this company.
Thank you.

Why would they have a heart attack? That topic is 7 years old, and so far down the list that it is lost unless an older member already knew about it. Why do you sound offended?

I don't expect everyone to know the long history of disagreements in the sword community. Suffice it to say, threads about this company generate more flames and moderator headaches than almost any other company.
Please heed my advice and discuss this company in an existing thread rather than lengthening this one.

Ok, fair enough, I didn't know that. I literally just discovered them. Interesting though about what you just said.

I know that technically we aren't suposed to comment on moderator posts here at myArmoury, but Chad (and the others) do a great job of keeping things civil, esp when people discuss things in a way that can get heated.
