I'm trying to find examples of quillon daggers from the 11th to the 14th centuries. Historical examples seem to be as rare as hen's teeth. Below is what I've found so far. Has anyone got any others?

Here's a thread on 11th century daggers in general, which is where you got 2 of your images: http://www.myArmoury.com/talk/viewtopic.php?t=11375 .

Here's the dagger that inspired my reproduction:

There are likely more in my books, but that will take some digging.

Thanks Chad!

Just like contemporary swords, one thing you notice on the antique daggers from this period is how subtle and sophisticated the blade geometries are. Something that the vast, vast majority of repros miss.

Is that inlay I am seeing in the blade of the dagger in the second picture? An interesting detail to include in a possible reproduction.

It very well could be?

Since that's Peter Johnsson's hand in the photo, I guess he'd be the one to ask! Wink

Here are some more. Some of these might not be typical quillon daggers, but I don't know what else to call them. Happy

It seems that in 11th and 12th century daggers weren't yet popular, or at least got 'missed' in sources, because we don't have that much about them. Though there are still some traces.

This is from Barcelona and dated to around 1120, it seems.

Cornelis, I really like the first dagger in your post. Do you know the provenance or any specifications? Any info would be appreciated Happy
