Overall Length: 8-7/8 inches
Blade Length: 4-3/8 inches
Hilt Overall Length: 4-1/2 inches
Blade width @ Base: 7/8 inch
Blade Thickness at base: .210 inch
Center of Gravity: 1 inch from base of handle

Inspired by blades and scabbards from Sweden from the 7th-9th C. Depending on who you ask this is either simply a knife or a very short Type II hand-saex.
The flat-ground blade is selectively hardened 5160 spring steel with a 'cannel' edge- the 'temper-line is most clearly visible in the top-left photo. The Mesquite-wood handle is carved in an interlaced pattern derived from the incised pattern on the scabbard. The handle has a brass top-plate secured by two small nails with a ring for a lanyard protruding from the center of the top.

The scabbard has substantial brass furniture with a figure of a dragon swallowing a man in the 'Jellinge' style. The furniture is secured by brass rivets. The leather is 8-9 oz. vegetable-tanned leather dyed brown and features a hand-rubbed Carnuba Wax finish. The Interleave pattern on the scabbard is from an 8th C. Sax scabbard.

Suitable to Viking-era reenactment or as a stout field knife for modern use.
