Greetings -
I am new to this forum, having recently rekindled my interest in medieval history and weapons it has brought me here.
Great site, great resource.
I have read some posts and seen some pictures of some really nice customization of purchased production swords, namely new handle wraps and changing the finish or look of furniture components. Does anyone have a good resource they can share on how to do some of those techniques?
Websites, former threads etc.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
What I have to "practice" on -
MRL Irish 2 handed sword which I would like to redo the handle on and maybe reduce the highly polished blade to something a little more dull/matte if possible
MRL Scottish twisted handled (wood, carved in a twist) claymore with brass fittings (leave this as is)
Just ordered and on the way -
CAS Hanwei Tinker Norman Sharp - Will want to change grip
CAS Hanwei 9the century viking - May want to age/color the pommel and guard. I don't really know the technical term here, but the high shine on these fittings I think may look better if "altered" in some way.
Again, I am new to the customization aspect of this, and any help or guidance would be most appreciated. Thanks
