HI All,

A few weeks a thread was raised about a falchion scabbard which appears to have a quiver attached for crossbow bolts.

This has proved too tempting for me and I feel the need to make one.

The bottom line is that I have a Vassal scabbard core that I could use for this, but as it will be a rather specialised product I wouldn't mind lining up a customer first - are there any takers?

The sort of piece I would intend is shown below.

Regards

Tod

Wow Tod - I've never seen this image before!

It just so happens I have a Vassal on the way. How much would such a project cost?

If you'd prefer to discuss via PM, drop me a message.

Respectfully yours,

Christian

Hi Christian,

Check out the Did combined quivers/scabbards exist? thread here for more similar images and discussion ... and where I encouraged Tod to make one! (Or was that Tod encouraging me to encourage him to make one?)

Tod: Seeing as you're ready to go on a falchion model, how about making that one for Christian, and then you can make one for a messer for me, having learnt all the things you'd do differently? Razz

Just as long as it's not so complicated that you think 'I'll never make one of those again!' Big Grin

Hi Mark,

I must confess that I too would likely find the idea more appealing with a messer (Albion Soldat, for instance...) than with the Vassal. I suspect the latter is a bit early for this style of scabbard, but Tod would likely know more about that...

Yours,

CHT

I have a Vassal, but no crossbow.
Do you have more than one core?

Mark,

I would love to.

I must say that the first I got to know about these was in the thread that Mark highlighted and that is all I know. There seem to have a been a few of them around, but beyond the shown artwork and our speculation I know nothing more I am afraid. I just really want to make one and thereby find out a little more.

While I feel a bit presumptuous in suggesting a course of action here, let me offer this idea:

- Toke gets the Vassal core for his project. I have a serviceable sheath for my newly-arrived Vassal, and he's looking for a scabbard.
- Mark becomes the 'guinea pig' for a messer scabbard w/crossbow quiver
- If Mark has the same messer as I do (Albion Soldat, Mark?), I'll then order one down the road

In short, I'm ok with what I've got for my Vassal for now, and so I'm happy to cede the core (if Leo is amenable to this) for Toke's project.

Yours,

Christian

That is quite generous of you, the thing is that I have scaled my ambition level down to trying to make a few daggers.
I have one not too impressive one finished at the moment. Sad

That means that I do not have a sheath project, but would want to buy a finished vassal sheath.
I just have the impression that there is quite a backlog but there might have been a opening for a vassal sheath from Todd within a reasonable time frame.

Sorry it I have confused things.
