I recently stumbled onto a wonderful exhibit at the U.S. Natural History Museum in Washington, D.C. http://anthropology.si.edu/writteninbone/ It details the forensics of the earliest settlers of the Va. Company. Those of you interested in the early colonial period will be pleased to see bones and artifacts you've read about. Of greatest interest here is the complete reconstruction of co. captain B. Gosnold, complete with a reproduction leading staff modeled on one found with his remains. The badly decomposed original is exhibited with Gosnold's remains, and the repro looks to be extremely accurate, although it has the look of wood or possibly a casting. Anybody know where I could get a head of this type? Modified pike, maybe? I'd love to have one of these since my earliest Va. Flynt ancestor was a militia captain. The exhibit also included a basket hilt sword that is the inspiration for this wonderful EBE interpretation: http://www.myArmoury.com/talk/viewtopic.php?t=22916

Sean, I would start here, they are fantastic to deal with for purchasing unique curly maple for gunstock projects. I am sure they can help, or at least point you in the right direction for your needs.
