Hi all
Hope you like this.
I pimped a dagger by an unknown maker for a friend.
Took apart the handle cut it up in two parts en blued them.
Made a brass and horn rings to put between the handle parts.
Made a new lower rondel discs from brass and horn.
And made a thin end-cap from brass.
Gilded everything and put it together.
The scabbard its made from a single layer thick leather.
With gilded brass fittings and a horn bead at the end.

Nicely done Ben.
Someone in the forum is looking for pictures of daggers with rondels smaller that the upper what'chamacallit.
The first casualty of battle is bravado, the second is macho.

Very well done - I especially like the brass on the upper rondel - great idea.

there are a few examples of daggers with a brass back plate.
two in the dutch army museum see picture
i only have a picture of one
one in ingolstadt
and a unknown one

Wow, Ben, really amazing work - and very innovative, compared to most modern replicas of rondell- or bollock-daggers, I've seen so far.
