Accidentally stumbled upon 3 used Pavel Moc blunts lately. Trying to turn the viking guys I'm training with ;-)
Left to right: Dürer, custom thing, Violet. Love the quality and feel of them. All very nicely balanced and with intriguing differences in handling, flex and presence. AND they sound like church bells when you strike them.

Matsu (Pine) Daisho.
I took a chance and ordered a daisho from a relatively unknown Chinese smithy named Munetoshi. I bought them at SwordnArmory.com, whose customer service is fantastic, by the way. They have T-10 differentially hardened blades. The wakizashi has no hi, whereas the katana has a beautifully crisp hi with a chu-kissaki. The both lack the ugly cosmetic yokote. The samegawa is good quality with small nodes. The saya are piano lacquered with buffalo horn kojiri and koguichi. The tsuba are laser cut blackened steel Matsu sukashi that are nicely rounded. I believe the fuchi and kashira are steel, but don't quote me. The ito is cotton of indifferent quality, but user grade, which is what I need. The katana tsuka is waisted, whereas the wakizashi tsuka is not. I doubt the katana weighs more than 2.2 lbs, whereas the wakizashi weighs in at 2 lbs.
I paid less than $300 for the pair, brand new, shipped out the door.

Here is a quick picture of the hamon of the katana (and my kitchen floor in need badly of a mopping.) It looks like a secondary bevel is ground here, but there isn't one. It's true shinogi-zukuri with a good amount of niku.

My latest aquisitions
Custom Gladius - Mainz pattern - from Arms and Armor
Custom two hander from Arms and Armor with matching dagger
(basically taking the largest claymore blade and giving it the same blade geometry as the 12th century sword - along with a massive hilt and crosspiece) some of you may have seen her at the Arms and Armor Booth at the Mn Renn Faire this last year - we were a bit short ion stock and some of us brought out personal items to give the booth a "full" look
We are also nearing completion on a Danish two hander and matching dagger that we will age ... this is the piece with the narrow ricasso and downswept cross piece with the faceted pommel ...
I am also waiting the conclusion of several other projects from Craig ,Chris and the rest of the crew .
Last I am in the middle of a project with Ryan Hoskins - we are working on a very large pattern welded Seax .
Best
Tim

Beautiful. I love the way that sword handles.
Santa didn't get me much, but I have fellow forumite Karl Knisley to thank for the fact that I had this lovely Armour Class/Del Tin mortuary sword this Christmas morning :

I forgot to post this one I got at the end of November.

I’m not the best with the camera, and I’m even worse with an iPhone which all these are taken with.

Some time since i was here.
Anyways, to new swords of mine:
(bit of a low quality pic, but it'l have to do)
sparring longsword and messer, made by Jiri Krondak, both with custom extended grip.
These weapons are amazing on weight and balance, the messer being only 0.9 KG, the longsword barely more then 1KG.
Balance is exactly at the crossguard.
In over five years of training with medieval weapons i've never felt anything that could compere with these weapons

Hello everyone,
I finally got the pics of my last sword purchase: the Albion Vigil. I am including some shots along with my Templar and Solingen to give an idea of scale. I really like this sword!

Love the Templar and Vigil. Have the Templar on order and the Vigil is at the top of my list.

Mmmm, the Vigil looks wonderful, Jeremy. I fell in love with the original sword when I saw it in London and have been wanting one ever since. The only bit I don't fancy is that spiral grip underwrap, but that's a simple enough fix.

Thanks Paul! That Bushido is lovely.
My latest is this Christian Fletcher/Angus Trim 'Austrian Great Sword' that I got in a trade from forumite Sean O Stevens.
I really like this one. Lots of power, but very maneuverable.
Here it is next to my other Red Fletcher longswords:

|
|
Hi All
The latest add is a falchion blunt for WMA inspired by the sword used by Archangel Michael (no relation) made by Ben Rial from Forged in Time.
Ben has excelled himself - the sword when initially picked up feels heavy but once firmly in hand it is obvious that instead it has 'presence'. Moves very nicely through standard I.33 moves.
I will look to get Ben to make the sharp version later in the year
cheers
mike

I just received a Del Tin DT6161 from Kult of Athena. It is a left handed Bolognese dagger from the early 16th century, taken from a drawing by Achille Marozzo. It has a 16.125 long blade, is very light and fast, and has about a 50% distal taper. KOA sharpened it and made a very nice stiff leather scabbard.
I'm very pleased with it. As always, good service from KOA
