OH man!!

My Postman came today with something new sort of mail,
not the usual loveletters as on picture below, :D
no, this time was it a sword, a real one, even if it are "just" a Squire Viking
well! forget that "just", this is the first one for me and it's are a real sword,

First time when i handle and look at it, i think, heavy weight, then a 1 minute later, WOW
it lose weight and it starts tickle in my fingers and then all off me until i just stand there with a smile
from ear to ear, and thinking, what the heck, love? and i have not made a cut in the air yet,
so i just standing there and take it all in to me, and just enjoy it, while the sword hanging
in my hand, in 5 - 15 minute's, i dont know how long and starts thinking about all new stuff i
have lerned and read about here on myArmoury.com and thanks my gods for
Björn Hellqvists sword site to, things like

Oouch!! tip in foot, hey!! it dont touch the floor, cool!! i dont need to think on that one
when i have shoes on, and my first mistake so far, here are some pictures to
look at so far and small facts, sorry for the poor picture, i am touched and shaking,
i will take some better later and maybe i can have some use of my old toolmaker studies to.

Very nice, Patrick, congratulations. That turned out better looking than I thought it would be at that price.

Congratulations, it really looks very nice! My first sword was the NG Gaddhjalt just a year ago. Like you, I've learned a tremendous amount from this website and I'm very thankful to have made a good choice.

Well! today i chose that i will look closer on my squire Viking
becose of training pain in my right arm, did't know that i have so
many sleeping muscles in my arm, a relly suprise for me, and painful one to,
and i understand why some guy's says that they cant walk away w/o theirs
new sword, and allways have it with them. :D

I relly like the look hilt have, not high polish and like a blacksmith
have hammer on it, some kind of raw but soft feeling on pommel
and croosguard, like it was used some year,
looks like there are no problem to make some work on it, if you want to do that.

You know, I think that sword would look great with some judicious "distressing." You could practice with a ball-peen hammer on some scrap steel, go over the guard and pommel with a hammer, and then perhaps "patinate" (i.e. rust-brown) the pommel... I think it could look great.
Maybe I'll get one of these next year to do just that.

Congradulations on your new sword. For the money, I think these are some fine weapons especially for those with a limited budget. I'll certainly get myself a squire one day in the near future.

Congratulations on the new sword Patrik. There's nothing like that first one.

I examined one of the Squire Line Vikings up at Albion earlier this month. It seemes to be quite a value for the money.

Its are the blunt (non sharp) version, the edge have a round edge, not flat,
and i am relly happy for it's not are sharp, tip have a radius of 5mm or 10mm in diameter
but i belive i can cut soft stuff like fruits and vegetable with it,
becose the blade are so thin and stable and just need some speed to do that,
i will check that up when i feeling for a fruitsalad some day. :D

Right now have i that scabbard on, i ordered it same time as the sword,
it have so low weight so i can almost not feel it, when it is on the sword,
("when i running around swinging my new sword" and have fun)
a relly good work that campaign line scabbard, i am surprised that
not more people order them at same time to have theirs swords in,
mine are dark brown and have bronze tip on it, and smells good,
and when i touch it, it says: muu, i will make a belt for it later.

Some more pictures, the chair seat are 443mm (17.44") above floor.

Beautiful sword! I've had my eye on the Albion Squire line too; particularly this Viking sword. I love its simplicity - it doesn't want to hang in a living room display collecting dust; it begs to be used for its historically intended purpose.

I've always felt that the swords we love fall onto a spectrum; the descriptive extremes of which are 'tool' at the one end and 'art' at the other. Of course, swords that fall more closely on the side of tools prize function above form; and excel at the tasks for which they were designed. But it's a pleasure to see one such piece that seems to stand out from its brethren and proclaim that is is not just a tool for cutting, nor just a tool for training - it is a tool for war, and belongs to a period in history which our world has long since left behind. Many swords have that sense of historical presence, but I guess I'm just taken with the way in which this one balances form, function and presence in such satisfying proportion. I'd dearly love to meet it in person.

Very fine looking blade, Patrik - congratulations; and many thanks for posting the photos.

What kind of oil do u use to keep it from rusting? I was wondering if regular gun oil would be fine and not hurt the sword or if something else would be better for keeping the sword in good condition. Any relies would be very much appreciated!! :)

I am not a high polish guy, so i just use 5.56 or WD40 on the blade, don't dry off with paper, use textile rag
and then use that wet rag on pommel and crossguard, then i have them in my scabbards.
