Hello all, looking for suggestions for a scabbard. I have an A&A English long sword and want to have a proper scabbard built for it. I'm having Sonny at Valiant make it. Any thoughts on rain guards, hanger suspension & placement etc?

I think that rain guards are no longer really fashionable by the 15th century.
As for the hanger I'm still trying to figure that out to my satisfaction so I'll let others with more experience answer.
I'd also talk to Sonny and see what he recommends.

Rain guards were very much in use in the 15th century. For clarity's sake, I'm talking about bits of leather or metal that hang down from grip and/or guard to cover the mouth of the scabbard. The sword of Estorre Visconti has one of metal, the cluny sword has one in leather as does the original Svante sword. All are 15th century (or maybe early 16th in the case of the Svante).
Perhaps you're thinking of flaps that extend up from the scabbard. Modern repros are often triangular, though historical examples could be triangular or in the shape of a semi-circle.
