A little too sweet. It's a reproduction/forgery--"de style médiéval".

They even do not claim it to be original in that announcement, if you read it carefully. It says "in style off". So you can not even call it a scam...

I'm afraid you're wrong. The whole sale is described as "armes et armures anciennes ".

Even something made "in the style of" (meaning not original) could be 100 years old or more. This item, based on the description, is not a medieval piece. It's made in the style of one.

There are some nice originals in the auction but there are also MANY identified reproductions/forgeries. The text is clear, but even without the text the appraisal/reserve tells the story.

I agree with you, Sean, but there is some seriously nice pieces toward the end (armour) that make for great armour porn. Can't afford to even buy the catalog, but I do enjoy seeing the pieces.

And if you compare the price of, say, this beautiful longsword to what you'd pay for a custom piece from a top European maker, the prices are not out of line. This one is actually about the same as an off-the-rack Svante.

Yes that's the point, there is a mix of real antique and more or less recent reproductions. Huge collection anyway !
