You might want to contct the people at the Early Music Shop in England http://www.earlymusicshop.com/About.aspx Although these drums are not specifically Italian, they are the closest I've found to 15th and 16th century European regimental and fechtshulen drums deplicted in the artwork from the Holy Roman Empire and surrounding lands. Maybe they can lead you to the specific sources on Italian drum making that you're looking for.
