Does anyone know if there is historical evidence to whether or not late 14th century spaulders (c. 1390) were connected to the rerebrace via leathers or any other method?

Also, the upper most portion of the shoulders in effigies are always covered by the aventail. Are there any extant examples the show exaclty how the top shoulder lames/cops were typically shaped?

Thankya,
T
