Below are a couple of articles released today about a Roman sword being found. I thought some may wish to view the images of the sword. (I hope the links work)

Interesting little articles. The sword in the photo was in very "excavated" condition, but for a 2,000 year old sword, it was in great shape! The articles said it was around 24 inches, so if that measurement is from the end of the tang to blade tip, I suppose that would be around a 16 inch blade, if it had the large rounded pommel and guard of a gladius? Very small sword, but they were primarily stabbing weapons, anyway.

It will be interesting to see what else they find during further excavations. I have heard it said, that in Jerusalem, if you could just pick any spot and start digging, you would be sure to find something. Too bad the animosities there don't allow for much more archaeological work to be done--just imagine the historical treasures that are waiting to be found from ancient times.
