Hi all,
I was looking through my picture files and come across this hilt design. I have had these pics for several years now and cannot even recall where I got them..I know it's 17th century I remember that much my question is, is it a Walloon type broadsword? I know that it was not fited to a rapier type blade like a cavalier hilt might be, but was mated to a more cut & thrust type. I would like to know what kind this is and if ANYONE has pictures or anything that would aid me in research. I am wanting to have this produced since I tend to like not so common designs and it suits my persona for re-enactment and faires. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I'd say it's a ca. 1640s mortuary hilt variant similar to the weapon Cromwell is said to have used at Drogheda. Armour Class makes this in both a plain steel and decorated version. Here's the latter:

Thought I may as well post this here, too. This is a sketch of a sword that I used to own that I think was English ca. 1650, and you can see that it's got some similarities to the sword in Allen's photos. Mine, however, was of cruder, rougher construction, although the overall styling was nice.

Looks like you may have taken it from an older version of the Bailiff Forge site? - a 'walloon hilt' sword.
