I was looking for some information about the corp of archers that form the cerimonial bodyguards for the Queen in Scotland, i have found some information on Wikipedia as well on the website of the Yeoman of the Guards, but i would like to have some more details about their uniforms, especially the one that they use on the field,
the dark green uniform should be in use from the 1830s but i have not found many details or contemporary illustrations or photos, also i would like to have some information about the longbow they use, draw weight and design

thank you for help

Hi Gabriele,

Here's a bow from 1770; fairly typical for a bow of the period. The major differences between this bow and the modern recreational longbow are the side-nocks and the lack of a riser in the handle.

This bow is in the National Museum of Scotland in Edinburgh.

I would also consider contacting Hugh David Soar. He is a goldmine of information on such topics.

Hugh is patron of the English Warbow Society. He can be contacted via the EWBS:

http://www.englishwarbowsociety.com/EWBS_membership.html

Click on the Enquiries link at the bottom of the page.

There are several other interesting societies who may be able to give you more information on the EWBS' Links page.
