Hi All,

I am looking for detailed photos of a suit of Maximilian armour Made by Hans Ringler for Otto Heinrich around 1516 so far the photo below is the only one I can find. Particularly need front side back of helmet and gorget. But any detailed shots of the suit would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
Ell

There's a very similar Ringler harness in Vienna: http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=%22h...mp;bih=938

Maybe it could help answer your questions if you can't find the precise harness you're looking for. You should also check the Met and Wallace Collection.

Thanks Sean,

This suit is in the Vienna collection but for some reason this is the only photo of it that has been published.
I will check out the Wallace collection and see if they have anything similar.

Thanks again!

That harness is A 239, KMV, listed in their catalog as being the work of Lorenz Helmschmid, the same smith who made the 'Sigismund' gothic harness. There was a thread on the Armour Archive that showed a fair number of photos of it, but I don't know what thread it was. Do a search under B. Fults as author.
