Hi there,
during our visit in Royal Armouries in Leeds last year we got interested by this beautiful 13th Century sword, so here is our replica for sale:

Length: 94 cm , weigh: 1,15 kg; Hand-forged (blade = spring steel), hardened at 52HRc. Double edged blade.
Hilt made from oak wood, coated with leather.

Nice sword, but it doesn't really look 13th century... Is the original dated so?

Hello,
there wasnīt any tag with dates, so Iīm not sure about the exact date.
Itīs a problem for me sometimes to tell the period with these types of swords, because Iīm a blacksmith not a historian :-)
But it caught my eye, so I made it. Of course Iīll be happy if you could give me advice, if you know anything about it.

No problem man, you are a gifted smith obviously. I think most people would agree it's a first half of the 15th century...

Thanks for your words, itīs always nice to hear someone likes your work.
And thanks for advice - nobody is perfect, I canīt hit the right era in every case I see the sword :-)
I try to make the best I can, practise make the master  This one I made simultaneously with the walloon sword. Our customers have never wanted these types of sword, until now. So Iīm glad for the opportunity to try something new, new techniques of black-smithing. Itīs a challenge!

Hi,
A great attempt at this sword, slightly let down by the leather grip though.
Anyways I love it when blacksmiths such as yourselves try and replicate museum pieces.

Hi William,
grip is made from wood, coated with leather, it was made upon customerīs wish (so it suits him well in his hand).
Surely we could make some other grip - have you got any ideas for a better one? :-)
