Hello everyone

I am looking for any informations about carrying 17th century military sabers, like that on attachment.

I have seen a lot of illustrations with rapier pendents and broadswords, rapiers (or other straight blades), but I have only a little information about sabers - none about the way of carrying it.

I am especially interested in scabbards and carriers used by mounted formations like schwarz reiters, mounted mercs (1590-1600) or cuirassiers (1610-1620). A few years ago I ve read that they sometimes used sabers - unfortunately I do not remember the source.

I would be obliged for any pictures or bibliography sources.

Thank you - I have used some pictures from it in my saber project, but... there is no information about scabbards and hangers Happy.
I have prepared few experiments with baldric and pendent and found that pendent is much more comfortable on horseback (at a gallop there is no difference, but at trot - hard way) especially when using hook or hanger to hang a weapon in more veritcal position - but I did not find any paintings or artefacts to confirmation this practical results.
My only evidence are pictures from Cruso or Wallhausen or other treatises where you could find only pendents.
