The forges are open for you to bash and grinders to grind.....(yes yes the ht room too so rack em up) .I hope John N is bringing the woodpecker again but if not there will certainly be magic glowing metal with no fire.........
If you want a cutting comp thats fine but I wont organise it!!! i will get in 2 by 4s and have ample cardboard tubes and bottles etc.I would need a volunteer?

That there is some serious multi-tasking.
Sound like a great time for those located in or near the UK!

This will be so much fun.
Great to meet all these scattered friends and colleagues in one place, doing what we love most.

Mhm, now how to combine that with the opening of certain exhibition in Oxford on 07.04? Would need to find a place to loiter about in UK for the mid week...
Still the event seems to be too tempting to pass it up.

Huge exibit on Alexander the Great in Ashmolean museum inculding artefacts from tomb of his father, which, I hope, will include the famed quirass and sword.
Aye, there is a LOT to see, no doubts, but at current ecconomical situation the accomodation prices and such are, sadly, a limiting factor.

Well that was a fantastic weekend.
Aside from the fun and interesting conversations and 'how do you do that?' chats with everyone there, my personal weekend ran like this.
Friday night was beer, curry and chat
Saturday. coffee, Celtic, Saxon and Norse decorative styles lecture by Jake Powning, I did an eating knife scabbard making demonstration, followed by Petr Florianek doing an antler carving demonstration, followed by a short carving tutorial by Jake (thanks Jake), followed by more beer, roast pork and a smelt by Jeff Pringle.
Sunday. Coffee, more coffee. All about Seaxs lecture by Jeroen Zuiderwijk, grip making and decorating by Peter Johnsson. Metal carving demonstration by Hyllyn.
It was in incredibly interesting and positive weekend and I went there excited by what I might learn and I left excited at what I did learn - fantastic.
Thanks to Owen for organising it and everybody who attended and took part.

I can only echo Tod's feelings about this great week end, which I immensly enjoyed too.
Being personnaly a bit obsessed with sword related leather work (grips&scabbards) I could not have hoped for more suited demos than your scabbard making one and Peter's wrapped and tooled grip.
Tod provided an extra treat by unloading a dozen albion from his truck along with scabbards he made for some of these, along with 30 or so of his daggers, ballocks, rondels, eating knives and crossbows, so thanks again for that!
A big thanks to you Owen for taking the time to organize and host these great events.
Cheers,
Julien

Bugger.
It was my fiancee's 30th on Saturday, so I couldn't come.
Will be keeping an eye out for the next one though.
Any pics from the day?
