We picked up a few more period pieces ( and yet a couple more are on the way). We'll keep posting them as we get them.
The axe is an all steel horsemans axe ( the inclination of the blade forward indicates it was for use on horseback ) from the later 16th cetury . The handle was a very bad replacement which we removed and are going to replace . The gauntlet
is a very late gothic piece . Two of the finger leathers were broken off in shipping and had to be hot-melted on .

Allan;
Wicked Axe is right! Way nifty, thanks for posting it.
Sad about the leathers under the fingers of the gauntled being broken in shipping! Dang, that sucks. Oh well. Still, a gorgeous looking piece.
Sooo.... how far along are you guys on the bridle gauntlets??? Hint, hint, hint....
Cheers,
Gordon

I concur with that assessment.

Excellent acquisitions Allan! Are those ebay finds? Can you provide some basic stats on the axe (weight, dimensions, etc.)?
Constant and true.

Hey Jay the gauntlet yes is an ebay score ,the axe sort of . We got it off a guy who we've done bussiness with before throught ebay . I'll throw the axe on a scale this week and get out the ruler for some stats . The blade inclined forward is the givaway to its use . If you think about an axe blade set at the usual angle striking down from the back of a horse the
point farthest forward is the mid section of the blade but in a down ward swing the top third of the blade is the point that will be hitting the target so by inclining the axe head towords the top the force is most effectively transmitted in a downward stroke .
Gordon , soon as we finish the shield redesign and get Ray Deancona the Russian medieval helm he's been wanting us to do ( we're kinda hoping to aquire on in the interum to take a gander at ) .
