Does a riveted visor like this, without a pin and hinge, have any historical evidence to it?

And easy on the vervelles! This has got to be the most vervelle-clad helm I have ever seen. Pretty bad really.

Judging from here http://www.myArmoury.com/feature_spot_bascinet.php I'd say that it is a modern short cut.
That being said though, since it is reletivly simple (though limiting), it wouldn't surprise me if it cropped up now and then.
