I posted a meat cutting cutting session video so I thought I would post a tatame cutting video showing cutting with my new Albion Baron. I am only learning to cut with a straight edge long sword as I am used to cutting with katanas so please bear with me. the Baron did its part if I did mine. I muffed first cut but the rest of cuts were fine.

Here is the link if you want to watch:

fyi...tameshigiri is the act of test cutting, it is not a word used to decribe the items being cut.

Yea, what you're cutting there is 'tatami omote,' usually just referred to as 'tatami'.

Looks like fun! Big Grin

Hi Michael and Zach;

Yes you both are correct and I have changed it accordingly to tatami omote. Sometimes a things name gets corrupted in the slang of everyday use and tameshigiri becomes the target itself as well the act of cutting. Frankly, I prefer to call it just plain goza but a lot of people do not recognize the term. anyway thanks for pointing this out.

Regards,

Harry
