It's been way too long since we've had a "local" gathering for sword lovers and forumites. Joe's been bugging me about it, too. Happy

So, anyone in SW Ohio, northern Kentucky, Eastern Indiana or anyone willing to drive to Ohio want to get together some weekend for cutting, show and tell, and general BS-ing? Sundays generally work better for me than Saturdays.

Give me some ideas on dates. I can host again, or someone else can.

Happy

Chad, as usual, I'm game for any Sunday, provided it doesn't fall on a reenactment weekend. Cool

Oh, not Halloween this year - got the Locust Grove 18th Century Market Fair to demonstrate at again!

It does not seem that this is generating as much interest as one might hope! Sad

Well, the three of us can always get together. Happy

Mark, Ted, Doug, or anyone else:

Any interest in a get-together?

Well my collection has been almost entirely changed out. I have an Albion Ringeck, Albion Burgundian, and Tinker Line Norman. All have been given scabbards and suspensions (and the Norman some customization) by Sonny at VA. Not much else in the collection right now (still have the A&A halberd and a rondel dagger from a guy in Canada), and not likely to add anything until bicycle season winds down and I stop spending all my money on bikes, bike parts, and bike tours, but I figure the VA work might at least be interesting to people.

I might be interested in finally meeting you guys (I know, I know, I say it every time you mention an Ohio gathering!), but I'm not going to be free until August ends. Don't let me keep you though! (Also, sadly my collection is not much to look at, Windlass and a few swords of unknown pedigree)
For love and honor.

Joe,
Yeah we probably should just set a date and see who shows up. I've been really busy so I haven't been able to look at my schedule over the next month, but I'll do that and propose a date.

Jimmy,
I'd love to meet you, too. Hopefully we can work out a date where you can attend.

I know there are other Cincinnati folks and other from the great region. Anyone interested in a gathering?

Ooh, maybe someday. I must admit, I thought it was pretty cool when I saw that you lived in Cincy too, Chad. I'm from the west side, myself. Maybe in a few years I can actually start a collection and meet some other collectors/practitioners. Anyhow, hope your hang-out session goes well, fellas.

Connor,
You don't have to have a collection to meet and hang out. Happy In fact, a get-together might be a way for you to experience some different brands in person so you'll know what you're getting into when you do start to build a collection.

Anyone who wants to come is welcome.

I could make it there, would love to bring my camera outfit for some photos, only pieces I still own are my wedding sword and my Tinker Seax. Is there a date in mind yet?

Since we've been flaoting this a bit and not getting a firm date set I say we just all show up at Chad's house at noon on Saturday 8/28...but...we don't tell Chad that we're coming so the Arnows will be REAL surprised!!!!!! Alternately, we can all PM Chad with news of our immenent arrival at 8 AM on Saturday morning. That should generate some excitement at the old homestead!!! Big Grin Eek! Big Grin

Okay, okay. Happy Sorry to have taken so long to schedule something. Finishing up my doctorate coursework, playing a recital, and setting up recording sessions next week have had me busy.

Are people available the 12th or 19th of September? Joe and I may have to arm-wrestle for hosting privileges, but do those dates work for people?

I can do the 12th, but I have a reenactment on the weekend of the 19th. Worried

Exact opposite... probably can't do the 12th but should be able to do the 19th.
