I've had this sword which I know nothing about, all I know is that has been passed down through my family.
One one side, there are markings saying:

Zurich
Anno
1714

And markings on the other side saying:

HK


A took a couple of pictures, if you would like more/better ones, just let me know...

Brian,

Looks like a smallsword (the descendant of the rapier). Other than that, I can't tell you much about time, manufacture etc. I'm sure others can fill those details in though.

I almost 100% sure that is what it is. I'm a big small sword lover, so I really envy you.
Can you provide a close up of the maker's mark, that may help someone with more knowledge identify it.
