Now that I have a couple of good viking weapons (Evans scramseax and Albion Jarl, with the Albion Berserkr on the way) I've decided to round out my viking kit.
Does anyone have any recommendations for a good quality axe? A&A's Danish axe is a good choice, but I'd prefer something just a bit smaller. Not a single handed axe but rather a middle of the road two hander. I've tried searching the web but all I wind up with are a bunch of vendors selling that Hanwei made axe.
Suggestions?

believe it or not Pat , albion has a few on its site . Also try looking at the site http://www.by-the-sword.com/new/index.html
They have a few nice looking items on that site also.
Here is a link directly to the axes on albion http://www.albionarmorers.com/axes.htm

manning imperial and talerwin would probably have LONG waiting times...Manning Imperial used to goto all the re-enactment events but with his long order list he hasnt had the time.
Maybe you could go custom? Like Don 'Krag' Halter on AxeForum does some beautiful works, but other than him I can only think of Albion selling decent axes from the period.

I'd say stick with the A&A Danish. You can always cut the haft down a bit, but the blade is so light that you wouldn't want to cut too much off -- this axe gets its power from great speed.
Perhaps Craig could make you one with a blade just slightly meatier, and a haft length of 3.5 feet or so...
