I'm echoing what a number of people have already said, but the reason I was glad to see the Squire line of swords is that they are not cut oriented. There is a real need for blunt swords that are well made, sturdy, good handling, and reasonably priced. Many reenactment/stage combat swords handle like crowbars, and I feel that the Squires will be maneuverable and fast. At their price, I won't mind too much if they get a little messed up and surface marred, as long as I can keep using them (not abusing them).

Just came back from a vacation and this was the first thread I saw...
Wow, I can't tell you how excited I am to see the squire line - I called my dear mum into the room, and she was almost as excited as I  I must also echo Roger - at last the reenacting world can get it's hands on something "real" - Albion is realy the "one stop shop" for all WMA enthusiasts!
(woo! Now I can afford an Albion! That's what I'm really excited about  )

Hey, Howard...Any chance in the future of a 'Laird-ish' Scottish model in the Squires? There are a lot of us folk out there that are begging for a Medieval Scot sword like that....one that can take a few punches and come back for more, but one that we can afford. I can't help but think they would sell a ton, and the fairly simple downturned quillons and teardrop pommel should be easy enough to build. Even if the price is a little more, I bet you could still come out on top. Just food for thought. MCM

It is definitely something worth looking at -- we will have to see how long it takes to finish the NextGen Scottish swords and then figure out if we can redesign those type of fittings into something simpler and faster to clean up. I'll keep you posted!

Do you think you could make a messer? It seems like there would be a large demand for a good messer in this price range. The only one I can think of that weighs correctly are your's that are coming out later.

Well, I've emailed Mike at Albion, and I've ordered the "Late 15th C. Bastard Sword". I love the looks of it, and I can't wait until I get my hands on it! I have a feeling It's going to be a loooooong summer now!

I would like to echo this... (execpt for not making one just because someone else already does)
These types of steel wasters show up a lot in various treatises. Such an offering would be well recieved by the WMA community. Maybe even with different length blades: 34, 36, & 38 inches?
But I do realise that these would only sell primarily to the WMA community, and you can market your current squire offerings to a much wider audience.

Yes you are a real pain in the arse
They are in the works. We just received several new designs. 
Right now we are just trying to bring the Squire line to life and finish the first group of next gens. Some of which will be sent to Gimo, Sweden for review.

Guys these look pretty darn good for a budget line.
Great to have decent looking practice weapons made in the US at this price point.
