Didn't want to start a second thread for the tournament rules but for those interesting in the North American Open International Longsword Tournament you can find the rules on the same site by clicking on "2010 Event" and then "Tournament". Easy as pie!
Registering participants will have the opportunity to vote for another tournament, either rapier or dussack, and the rules for that tournament will be announced once that has been decided.
We're looking forward to seeing North America's fencing talent on display so come join us and show off the fruits of all your hard work!

Hi Bennison!
Well, registration hasn't been open for 24 hours yet and already we have folks coming from all over the U.S, Canada, Mexico, and the U.K. so I'd say, yes, foreigners welcome! Heck, if you make it we might have to consider adding some sort of prize for "furthest traveled" and make a competition out of it!

Hi All!
Here a few quick updates regarding the upcoming Open International Gathering….
Due to a recently discovered technical error involving the hotel website, the Courtyard by Marriott has kindly agreed to extend the discounted hotel registration deadline to March 4th. If you haven’t booked your rooms yet, be sure to take advantage of this great deal!
http://cwp.marriott.com/houcy/wmac/
Accordingly, we are extending the discounted registration deadline! Register on or before March 4th and save $50 U.S. Mail-in registration will close March 12th and online registrations will close March 17th. After that, you’ll have to pay cash at the door.
We are happy to announce some new additions to the teaching staff. Axel Pettersson, winner of last years Dijon Longsword Tournament and of the famed GHFS in Göteborg, Sweden will co-teach several courses with Anders Linnard. Also, the mighty Mishaël “Lopes” Cardozo of EMCA in the Netherlands will teach a longsword class as well as dagger fighting from a largely unknown and recently recovered Dutch manuscript!
To register now please visit: http://www.wmacoalition.com/2010event/
If you have any questions regarding the event please contact: 2010gathering@wmacoalition.com
We are still working on a couple of last minute surprises and look forward to seeing you at the Open International Gathering!
Sincerely,

Here's the latest tournament news.....
You voted and we listened! The decision to host either a rapier or dussack tournament has been made! The last weeks boom in registrations really swung the vote. And the winner is..................................................
DUSSACK!!!
This is particularly exciting as this will be the first "Open International" dussack competition to be held in several hundred years! (At least, that we know about.)
The rules for the Hammertertz Forum Open International Dussack Tournament will be posted sometime next week so stay tuned! What we can tell you now is that they will be very closely based on historical fechtschule rules!
However, we have not forgotten our rapier brothers and sisters and are working on a special event for them as well. We'll get back to you on that as soon as we have the details worked out.
See you all at the Open International Gathering!
