I have found on the net a picture of an unusual helmet. This one:

I wanted to add a little information. A similar helmet is depicted on a fresco at the Corvin Castle in Hunedoara, Transylvania, Romania. The fresco is believed to be from late XV century, at the time of Mathias Corvin, the son of John Hunyadi. Here is an image of the fresco:
Saddly the fresco has been destroyed but this image was found in a hungarian book from XIX century about the restauration made then by the hungarian authorities.

Romulus,
A very curious item, thanks for posting it.
Due to the apparent weight and construction, I would say it is a seige helmet. Certainly looks like a burgonet "style"...but a pretty hefty piece. A similarly heavy helmet, though much earlier and of a very deep sallet style, was on display in the Rotunda at Woolrich for many years. I believe it is presently on display at Leeds.
Heard tales of these types being used as cooking pots, coal scuttles, etc. by local peasants after scavenging battlefields and seige sites.
Regards,
Dan
