Another question.....I am researching a sword for a friend which I believe to be a pattern 1897/98 Staff sergeants sword, I'm yet to confirm this, need more measurements to be sure. The only identification I can find on it is what I think is a brass proof stamp approx 6mm across set into the ricasso with the 'Prince of Wales Feathers' surrounded by 'PROVED'.
Question......can I determine an approximate age or manufacturer from the stamp ? Thanks again ,in anticipation. Smokey.
