Hello again,
I wanted to show everybody two of my newest acquisitions! I just purchased a new Scottish dirk and skean dubh carved by William Lloyd. Both have elephant ivory carved handles! William is able to carve his handles from antique ivory (elephant tusks), woolly mammoth tusks, elk antlers and deer antlers that he purchases from several vendors across the country, a practice allowed under the confusing mix of laws governing the ivory trade here in the United States. He is also a member of the Society for Creative Anachronism. This society is an international organization dedicated to re-creating the arts of pre-17th-century Europe. He is also known from winning the best-sword award at the Blade Show & International Cutlery Fair in Atlanta, Georgia (one of the largest of its kind in the world). If anybody would like to take a further look into his work, his website is www.thechiselersart.com .
Thanks!
